European Union offers support to El Salvador

This week the European Union signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of El Salvador in which the EU will give 121 million euros ($160 million) to the country. The funds are designated for use to combat extreme poverty and to improve public security in the country.

How strange, I thought Saca just announced that El Salvador is almost out of poverty. I thought his media friends were serious when they claimed that the fact that everybody in the country has a cell phone, we are all doing well.
Anyways, how happy Saca and his buddies must be with the incoming of more money for the poor, more money for them to put in their own pockets.

Whatever anyone thinks of Saca, whether you like him or not, I think its impossible to deny that El Salvador is better off now than at any other time in the last 40 years or so. I think that there is still work to be done, but we have to be fair and give credit where credit is due. Saca has done a good job.

El Salvador is better off than any other time? Where do you live buddy? Certainly not in Soyapango, Ilobasco, San Martin et cetera. Much of the country is under the control of gangs, the water system cannot deliver clean water to much of the population, people have to rely on money from El Norte, because of the lack of jobs that pay a living wage. Oh yea, things are soooooooo much better. Hey, get out and see the real world!

Listen Closely, I said that El Salvador is better off now than it has been in the last 40 years!!! I never said that El Salvador is in a perfect state, you won't find that in any country in the world. I also stated that there's a lot of work to be done, like in the towns you mentioned. But to imply that Saca is responsible for the gang violence in those towns is idiotic. The real fools are the gang memebers who resided in the US, then insted of working hard like other immigrants, they decided to commit crime. Now they are deported back to El Salvador only to commit more crime. How sad.
by the way, did you hear that in the next 5 years 97% of homes will have elecricity, that will be up from the current 70%. Did you also hear that Saca will raise the minumum wage by the end of 07 and again in 08? Yes, El salvador is better off, but still not where it should be.
