Homicide rate dropping
The recently released statistics on murder in El Salvador show that killings have dropped 10% through the first 9 months of the year from the total in the same period last year:

This is certainly an improvement, although there is a long, long way to go before El Salvador can be seen as a country with a "normal" level of violence. We can expect to see ARENA pointing to the reduction as evidence of the effectiveness of its policies as the political campaigns continue to heat up.

I'd say that's probably within the noise or randomness level. For any given level of violence, you could conceivable have swings of 20% year on year for no reason at all. Just randomness.
Wake me up if ever violence goes down 30% or 40%. Then we are talking.
