Underemployment for youth in El Salvador

According to United Nations Development Program figures reported in LPG, lack of jobs for youth is an enormous and ongoing problem in El Salvador. Tw of every three youth between the ages of 15 and 24 are underemployed. At a national level, 6.6% of the working population lacks any job at all, compared with a rate of 12.4% among youth. But for underemployment, defined as lacking work sufficient to sustain a dignified life, the rate jumps to 50% among the general population and 62.4% among youth.

It's time for El Salvador's National Assembly to introduce legistation approving Vocational and technical training programs for the youth along with unemployment benefits for the working population.
This is a concrete issue that all Political parties and the Ministry of Labor in El Salvador should be working on and it is something that will benefit the whole Nation.

Sorry Mario, but the national assembly will just get bogged down in internecine infighting and nothing will happen. If they did pass a law creating training programs for youth where are these trained youth going to work? You have to have jobs for them to be hired for before you begin to alleviate the problem. When you have an obstructionist government that won't obey its own laws and strangles outside investment that might create jobs for more qualified people, then the less qualified youth have no jobs to move up to. Fix the corruption and somehow cut the greed of the upper class and you might make a dent in the problem, but it takes money to fix these problems and greedy upper class is not going to endanger their security and wealth unless they see some way to aprovechar. Its that old idea of trickle down economics but they don't realize that they could aprovechar by selling more at lower cost to those that would buy if they had the means.

Mr. Sideliner here's this information regarding some new approaches to help low income families in El Salvador. Eg: Kiva, Adelante Foundation's in Honduran North Coast deal with micro loans to help artisans in their small business .I know there are also NGOs in El Salv. working with low income families in rural and urban areas providing education ,training and access to plot land for agriculture and housing. Workers and artisans can create their own workshops and industries to make a living. They are hard workers in need some guidance and assistance !
Are we Salvadorans in USA ready to join efforts with these and
and other organizations to help to alleviate poverty in El Salvador ?Is there something that we can do and we are not doing it ?

Political action is needed to request to the Salvadoran National Assemby legislation to grant "unemployment benefits " for the Salvadoran workers who get laid off without monetary compensation.It seems that no body cares about it. What is the FMLN doing on this issue ?
